Road Trip.... whoohoo :)

Good Morning from Panama City Beach, Florida. The beautiful sunshine state!!!

We awoke yesterday about 5 am to embark on this journey with my Mother, 2 sisters and
8 robust children. After much deliberation over where to put all the luggage for
these 3 families into 2 vehicles, we finally set out around 9am.

About 30 minutes into our trip this plastic contraption we created was blowing like crazy in
the 80 mile an hour wind. We made  a quick stop at Lowes in Alabaster to pick up
some additional bungees, let the lil ones stretch there legs and off we go again :)

We had a fun road trip...good times!

After about a 9 hour trip to a 6 hour destination point, we arrived and my was it worth it!

Dont you wish you were here?

Children and Chores!

My children always keep me smiling and laughing even when we are doing chores.  My almost 18 month old is always ready and willing to help.... When I sweep, he wants to take the broom and sweep too. When I do laundry, he tries his best to pick up the heavy wet clothes I hand him, then hurl them into the dryer. Its so funny to hear him grunt as he willingly struggles. Just last night when his daddy came home and changed out of his work clothes, lil Grant picked them off the floor and toted them to the laundry room. When I load or unload the dish washer, he is right there with me, with those curious lil hands.

Now vacuuming... that is a different story. Grant loves the vacuum cleaner, when its off.!!! LOL  He is constantly dragging it out and trying, with all the strength he can muster, to push it around the house. We have a Kerby so its quite heavy. When turned on it  has a self propelled motor so its not so bad, but off.... shew, its a workout. I bet it weighs near 25lbs.  My older ones love when I vacuum because Grant clings to them like white on rice. They think its cool to be his protector and they love his sweet embrace.

Here are a few cute pictures of  Gavin  and Grant.

I cant leave without showing you some of the messes that Grant likes to make as well...
Never a dull moment with lil bundles of joy around....

"Children are a heritage from the LORD,
   offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them. "

He Won't Let Go.

Just to let some of you in on a little secret... Rascal Flatts is like my all time favorite band. I've been a fan of them since way back when.... The first time I remember one of their songs making an impression on my life was when they sang, "God Bless the Broken Road".  While Rascal Flatts is not a Christian band, one of its members Jay DeMarcus started his career as part of the Christian group East to West.  I knew I loved these guys for a reason.  All of them are all accomplished songwriters, and have written several of their own hits. The lead singer Gary Levox has the most amazing vocal range. I just love to hear him harmonize!

They have recently come out with this new song, "I Won't Let Go" which I was instantly drawn to. The song is not meant to be a christian song, so to speak! But.....If you look at it from the perspective of this being God's message to a lost and hurting world, you may find it has quite the soul stirring effect. Life is a storm but we don't have to go through it alone. "He Won't Let Go!"  Notice in the video, he even points toward heaven :)

Hebrews 13:5-6 "Let your conduct be without covetousness, and be content with such things that you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you, nor forsake you,' so that we may boldly say, 'The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.'"

(We all have probably been in physical need at some time. All of us are in spiritual need, and will remain that way as long as we live in this body of flesh with its carnal nature. But God does not abandon us. Never, Ever! We can always trust in him to be there for us, no matter how hard things may seem.)

Summers End....

Sighs..... Wow, Summer sure has flown by hasn't it?  Here in Alabama, public schools are starting back on August 16th. We have decided as a family to not start back till after Labor Day. We have been enjoying the summer's warmth and staying cool by playing in as much water as we possibly can.

Here are a few pictures of my little ones enjoying a wade
pool and slip n slide in the front yard.

Destiny
Grant

As you can see.. We love the water around here. We also have a splash pad near our house that we frequent.  It is a popular attraction in our town. Did I mention its totally FREE.

While I'm totally sad that summer is coming to an end, I welcome the structure that the school year brings. I love not only teaching my children but also learning with them. These years sure do fly by and I know one day, Im gonna miss this.....

Disturbed....OPINIONS PLEASE!!!???!!!

Ive not posted in a while so I'm well over due. A lot has been going on around here. We've finished up all the schooling that needs to be submitted to our cover-school admin. Just haven't mailed it off yet. (Makes mental note to do that) We are excited about summer and the slower pace and freedom that it brings. What would summer be if you did not kick it off by the pool. We did just that last week. It was so refreshing to just veg by the pool all day. No deadlines or schedules to make or complete. Just literally took the day off.

                                                                      My water baby

That my dear friends and followers, brings me to my next conclusion.  There is  very little modesty left in today's society. Ill be first to admit that back in my youth, I wasn't modest either. Thinking back to some of the things I wore out of my house back in the day is disturbing. I was a bit naive, not really understanding that my attire would cause some godfearing men to lust in a moment of weakness. However, Im was not so naive as to knowing my objective in wearing such attire.  I knew full well it would draw attention and I wanted it. How ashamed I am of my sin and actions. How blessed I am that God convicted me of my sin and changed my heart. Thank you Jesus!!

Sitting at my computer tonight looking through some of my daughters facebook friends walls, I'm disturbed! I find that many young girls are posing in thier skimpy bikini's and placing them in public photo albums for all to see. I just wonder where the parents are, or what they are thinking???   What I did in my youth, Im quite ashamed of but my parents never told me "you cant leave the house in that"  We as parents need to step up to the plate and inform our children about the consequence of these actions and photos. Its our job to protect and inform them. We have the God given right to forbid such actions as well. I know we all have different convictions and rules but, I personally would never allow this in my home. Does anyone agree or disagree?  How do some of you young ladies feel about this topic?

Blessing,
 Stephanie

All in a Day: Open House - Master Bedroom

I have been meaning to get in our master bedroom for weeks, months actually, to try to get things back in order. Seems like ever since the baby was born this rooms sort of become a catch all... Ever been there? Well, the problem I have is that when he is sleeping, I clean!! But, I cant clean this room cause hes sleeping in there! I'd sure hate to wake him, know what I mean? Shhhh...... He is sleeping now, as I am taking these pictures.

Before we moved the desk in here, the playpen was on this side under all the baby decorations on the wall... Man, I really need to take them down... Im ready for the baby to start sharing a room with his older brother so we can turn this room back into more of a rest haven for us grown ups too. Its a short season though, they do grow up so fast! I am sure Ill find myself wishing we had a baby to share the room with again in the near future.

If you would like to join in, please click the "All in a Day" link above to see how.

All in a Day - Open House - Family Room

Our Family Room truly is...just that! This is the room where we invest most of our time together. As you can see, we have an open floor plan so the Kitchen and Living Room are sort of combined. The looks of this room have changed so much since I began my homeschooling journey. Im even quite tempted to bring the tack and white board in here simply for the convenience. Its central in our home, it conveys our family our beliefs an our lives.  I tried to straighten up a tad for you guys, so come on in :)

This is what my Family Room looks like on most days, we like to let the sun in!

Now for a closer look...
